Death of Margaret Thatcher

Margaret Thatcher died this morning. As she did with everything, she did it in style, taking her last breath whilst staying at The Ritz.

Much will be said about the life of Margaret Thatcher over the next few weeks. She will be castigated for many things. I didn't agree with everything that she did. It must be remembered that when she took power in 1979 the country was on its knees. She is blamed for destroying industry in this country but the unions had already achieved most of that. Remember British Leyland. We had had the three day week, power cuts and the country being held to ransom. Rubbish was on the streets for weeks. When she left office at the end of 1990 the country was unrecognisable from what it had been 11 years earlier.

Love her or hate her she was one hell of a leader and admired and feared throughout the world. Unlike many of her successors her integrity was unblemished and without question. We will be lucky to see the like of her again.

  2. Thatcher's legacy - Long Kesh, Brixton 81 and 85 Orgreave and plod becoming a tool of he establishment. That said she had good housing policies and I am sorry for Carol who seems a nice kid. Off to have a drink and "Tramp the dirt down".

'Tramp the dirt down' was the odius Galloway's line. He removed his hand from some Arabs backside to tweet it earlier. Is there an original thought in that tiny brain?

  4. No tears. I'm increasing the rent and having a long, serious malt. She would have wanted it that way.

  5. @BLC:
"Tramp the Dirt Down" is a song about Maggie by Elvis Costello: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9t4-zDem1Sk

  6. It is something of a risk to even mention that title here...even in an informative way, Kimpatsu.

Be prepared for incoming smears, questions and insults from 'her boys'.

Kimpatsu - thanks, I am aware of the song. The point I was making was that the odious George Galloway had referred to it to smear Thatcher earlier in the day. The stupid Rehill was trying to be clever by repeating it as his own.

  8. For the sake of clarity, no one is banned from this blog but I will delete inane trivia that has been spouted over and over again and is really dull and boring.
Sensible debate is welcomed. If only some people had something interesting to say.

I have volunteered to work it for nothing. I think the Met Fed should ask Fed ranks to volunteer to work free of charge. Maggie deserves it. The last member of any Government that we owe anything to. After this the charlatans running this country will get what they deserve, which is precisely nothing.

the clip above does not have a direct link to Maggie.

I just found it both amusing and a little sad too
